are there any free dating sites?

it seems that every dating site wants you to pay them $2 trillion a month for nothing more than being afforded the chance to IM someone that you might find attractive. i've never been in a relationship before and i need to find a way to meet people. i would appreciate it very much if someone could just point me in the right direction. - thanks

5. I would say Myspace also but its not like most dating sites that you pay for. Ive used Yahoo! Personals and found someone that I really like. We both didnt think it was possible to find someone on the site since we both were using it for some time. I only use the cheapest plan and then if I dont find anything, its not worth my money.
